The first thought I had when the Chico Outlaws came to town for the first time last year was “where is heck is Chico?” When I finally decided to map it out, I went ahead and mapped out all the 2009 GBL franchises.
How ‘bot a legend for ye ol’ map?
A through E is the North Division, and F through J is the South Division.
- A = Edmonton Cracker-Cats
- B = Calgary Vipers
- C = Victoria Seals
- D = Chico Outlaws
- E = Long Beach Armada
- F = Orange County Flyers (kinda hidden behind “E”)
- G = Tijuana Potros
- H = Yuma Scorpions
- I = Tucson Toros
- J = St. George RoadRunners
After seeing everything mapped out, I wonder why the Long Beach Armada are in the North Division, while the St. George RoadRunners are in the South Division? Considering the proximity of the Armada to the Orange County Flyers, one would have to think they’d make natural divisional rivals and want to play each other often.
By the way, Chico is in Northern California. Now I know.
