Tha O.V. Released

Carlos Duncan was the first ever Calgary Viper signed to a contract, hence he was – and will always be – Tha O.V.

Duncan, however, battled through injury in 2008 – and it became obvious watching him play third base and bat in the clean-up position this still-young season that something just wasn’t right with the two-time Vipers MVP.  Still, it came as a huge shock to read that Duncan has been released by the Vipers.

Vipers Director of Baseball Operations Peter Young relays the sad news:

“It was a very difficult decision for [Field Manager] Morgan [Burkhart].  Carlos is an original Viper and has contributed so much to the on field success of our franchise. He’s also a great personal friend of both myself and team owner Jeff Gidney. It’s been really tough watching him play through the pain of his knee injury.”

We wish nothing but the best for Carlos Duncan moving forward.
