Yo!! Sweetness

I’m speaking from experience when I say the best way to keep up to speed on Calgary Vipers news – I’m talking player and roster news, promotions, game news and more – is to follow the Vipers on Twitter.

Twitter’s not just some sounding board for Ashton Kutcher and Lady Gaga, it’s actually a very valuable resource for sports fans. So get behind your local baseball heroes and follow @CalgaryVipers and maybe even a top-100 unofficial Calgary Vipers blogger (me!) @xolager.

The Vipers are trying to get to 1000 followers on Twitter (that’s 2,074,911 less followers than MC Hammer has, which is a sad fact), so let’s make it happen.

  1. Twitter is definitely the best way to get up to the minute information about any individual now a days. And the Vipers need as much support as possible. Should probably start trending #vipersfor1000. See if we can make it.

May 1st and they’re at 985 followers. So close. Either way, they should be over 1000 by opening day. Go Vipers!

I’ve read some rather negative comments on this site in regards to the current General Manager and and other things last season, but the way I see it, the Vipers are doing some really, really good things.

First of all, I think they are presenting themselves as a Professional Club. I like the Youtube usage for promotion, and the posting of the Press Conference. I like the reaching out to the Media, and the fans. I like to hear the optimism of the GM. It’s great to hear they have Canadian Tire and Booster Juice on board as supporters. Those are big names, and when big names are buying into the Vipers, that’s awsome. You know that’s the result of hard work.

I like the comments of Morgan Burkhart. I know now that he actually cares and is enthusiastic, not just a “name” using the job as a stepping stone, say. You know Calgary clubs like the Outlaws would hire someone like Jody Davis, or the Cannons,Chris Chambliss, but they weren’t used to promote the product properly.

Good on the press conference using Drew Miller as the “face” of the franchise. I liked hearing him on QR77 too.I’ve always felt the Vipers haven’t promoted they’re players properly. This is a good change. Players to get behind, players you know when they are announced on the PA.

    Good Work!

    Thanks Jason,

Yes, this blog has become a bit of a lightning rod of negative comments from readers (some of the negativity valid, some just kinda “out there”), and it just about turned me off from updating this site, but I’ve decided to focus mostly on the positives this season. Besides, the good greatly outweighs the bad anyways, and baseball season can’t come soon enough!
